В центре Млечного Пути исследовали «видимую часть» гигантской черной дыры. Данные наблюдений опубликованы в журнале Astrophysical Journal.

Специалисты из Университета Неймегена наблюдают за черной дырой Sgr A* с помощью виртуального радиотелескопа. Микроволновой интерферометр GMVA позволит ученым понять, как рождается излучение в окрестностях черной дыры.

«Поехали?»: как полететь в космос, и сколько это стоит

В ходе исследований специалистам удалось удвоить разрешение снимков, полученных год назад в рамках аналогичного проекта, и при помощи GMVA очистить данные от помех. Показатели свидетельствуют о том, что Sgr A* асимметрична и «очень небольших размеров».

Также выяснилось, что вопреки распространенной теории радиоволновое излучение вырабатывается не внутри джета, а в диске из газа и пыли вокруг черной дыры. По другой версии, ее выбросы могут быть направлены в сторону Земли.

Окончательный ответ на этот вопрос эксперты найдут в ближайшее время, когда завершат обработку последней порции данных.

Ранее астрономы открыли два облачных спутника Земли.
