Глазное яблоко 41-летней женщины из-за неудачной хирургической операции глаза, сделанной несколько десятков лет назад, стало похоже на велосипедное колесо со спицами или на небольшие кусочки пиццы. Об этом сообщает журнал The New England Journal Of Medicine.

Пациентка обратилась к врачам с проблемой: последние два десятилетия ее зрение постепенно ухудшалось. Во время осмотра специалисты заметили странные разрезы (16 штук) на радиальном рисунке роговицы одного из ее глаз.
Оказалось, что они появились из-за проведенной 23 года назад радиальной кератомии — метода коррекции зрения (близорукости), популярного в прошлом и практически не использующегося сегодня из-за появления лазерной хирургии.
На фотографии выше огненно-красные проявления на зрачке пациентки вызваны «эффектом красных глаз», который возникает, когда свет отражается от задней части глаза. Кроме того, фотография специально сделана таким образом, чтобы четче показать радиальные разрезы на роговице.
Пациентке прописали специальные корректирующие линзы, и через шесть месяцев после обращения к врачу ее состояние улучшилось.
