Компания Siemens вместе с немецкими властями открыли первый участок автомагистрали с электрической контактной линией для движения грузовых автомобилей.
В Германии решили проблему долгой зарядки аккумулятора у грузовиков на электротяге. Siemens заключила контракт с властями федеральной земли Гессен на строительство тестовой линии в 2017 году. Ее проложили на автомагистрали между Франкфуртом-на-Майне и Дармштадтом на расстоянии в 5 км. В обе стороны теперь крайние правые полосы оборудованы линией электропередач с контактными кабелями.

Для подзарядки электрические или гибридные грузовики должны быть оборудованы складывающимися «рогами», которые будут убираться на обычных участках дороги,сообщает New Atlas. Теперь грузовики-троллейбусы будут ездить по магистрали вместе с обычными авто. К середине 2020 года количестве рейсовых грузовиков достигнет пяти штук.
В случае успешных результатов, после 2022 года Siemens намерена начать расширение сети таких дорог в других регионах. Помимо Германии компания уже протестировала грузовики-троллейбусы в США и Швеции.
