60-летняя артистка сообщила журналистам, что впервые попала к Табакову в 14 лет. Антоненко прошла кастинг в «Современник» в 1973 году, но успела сыграть только в одном спектакле. Перспективной карьере помешало отравление актрисы Аллы Покровской. Мать Михаила Ефремова выпила на сцене нашатырный спирт, которым кто-то подменил воду. Антоненко рассказала всем об этом инциденте, чем вызвала немилость наставника.
«Табаков воспринял это неправильно: как предательство, а для меня это был шок подростка», — вспоминает Елена Антоненко.

За «вынесенный сор из избы» Елену выгнали из «Современника». Позже, во времена студенчества, она решила снова попасть к Табакову. Но на встрече в его кабинете он внезапно попросил девушку показать грудь, пишет «Комсомольская правда».
«Это было как удар ножом. Я ушла как оглушенная… Мне было так больно, и не один год…», — заявила Антоненко.
