Компания «Израильская Оружейная Промышленность» представила новую штурмовую винтовку «Кармель» на выставке LAAD 2019 в Бразилии, сообщает военный блог «Центра анализа и стратегий».

Винтовка изготовлена по классической схеме, калибр — 5,45 мм, в дальнейшем планируется выпускать оружие под патроны 7.62×51, 6.8 Remington SPC и 6.5×55 Creedmor. Винтовка комплектуется стандартными магазинами НАТО, рассчитанными на 30 патронов. Масса «Кармель» без патронов — 3,3 кг.

В конструкции винтовки используются сталь, алюминий и полимерные материалы. Несколько планок Пикатинни со всех сторон позволяют крепить прицелы и другие необходимые аксессуары.

В газоотводной системе винтовки установлен регулятор с тремя положениями: обычный (regular), для условий сильного загрязнения (extreme) и при использовании с глушителем (suppressor).
