После модернизации сверхзвуковая ракета-мишень GQM-163A Coyote сможет имитировать ракеты SS-N-27A Sizzler («Калибр»), сообщает Jane’s 360. Соответствующий контракт заключен между Командованием авиационных систем ВМС США и Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems.

Обновленная мишень должна обеспечить имитацию угроз, создаваемых сверхзвуковыми многоступенчатыми ракетами, в частности российским «Калибром», на участке отделения последней ступени.
После модернизации GQM-163A Coyote получила твердотопливный ускоритель Hercules MK 70 и маршевой двигатель MARC-R-282. Это позволяет ракете-мишени разгоняться до сверхзвуковой скорости.
