Судя по фото, в качестве базы для «Лотоса» используется удлиненная семикатковая ходовая часть на основе БМД-4М. 120-мм орудие САУ позволяет вести огонь на дальность до 13 км. Прицельная скорострельность достигает 6−8 выстрелов в минуту, а время перевода из походного положения и обратно — всего 30 секунд.
Весит САУ 18 тонн и способна развивать скорость в 70 км/ч. Впервые в практике российского машиностроения «Лотос» сконструирован по принципу золотого сечения. В ЦНИИТОЧМАШ подчеркивают, что при разработке боевой машины был реализован целый комплекс неординарных конструкторских решений, позволивших увеличить эргономику, живучесть, а также боевые и ходовые качества самоходки.
