Сегодня телеком-оператор velcom начал предоставлять услуги в сети LTE. 42.TUT.BY вышел на улицы Минска, чтобы проверить скорость подключения к интернету в сети четвертого поколения, предоставляемой оператором, — вот что из этого получилось.

Напомним: использовать 4G от velcom могут только те абоненты, устройства которых поддерживают этот стандарт передачи данных. SIM-карта должна быть готова к 4G (проверить это можно с помощью USSD-запроса на номер *181#). Если ваша SIM-карта не поддерживает 4G, ее заменят бесплатно в любом центре продаж и обслуживания компании или дилерских центрах (при себе нужно иметь паспорт).
Услуги 4G от velcom работают на базе сети инфраструктурного оператора beСloud. Известно, что на момент запуска оператор использует более 530 базовых станций beCloud в Минске и Гомеле, а также частично — в Минском районе.
«Словить LTE-сеть так и не получилось»
Чтобы проверить, какую скорость может обеспечить LTE-сеть у абонентов velcom, мы отправились в центр Минска и проследовали от Октябрьской площади до Немиги, а после поднялись до станции метро «Фрунзенская» и пешком прошли до торгового центра «Корона» (станция метро «Молодежная»).

За весь этот путь «словить» LTE-сеть у журналиста 42.TUT.BY так и не получилось — смартфон отказывался переходить на нее из 3G-сети. В офисе velcom на Интернациональной незадолго до этого нам подтвердили, что SIM-карта и смартфон, на котором должны были проводиться тесты, поддерживают работу в сетях четвертого поколения.
В пресс-службе velcom пояснили, что «в настоящее время совместно с инфраструктурным оператором beCloud ведется работа по оптимизации настроек LTE-сети». Позже оператор планирует «последовательное расширение 4G-покрытия и улучшение его качества за счет увеличения количества базовых станций, поддерживающих технологию 4G, а также увеличения емкости сети».
Что у других абонентов?
Возможно, нам просто не повезло. По сообщениям абонентов velcom, к LTE-сети в Минске многим сегодня подсоединиться все-таки удалось. Мы попросили их замерить скорость подключения.

Добавим, что долгое время договоры с beCloud по использованию 4G были заключены только у МТС и life:). Ранее velcom заявлял о постройке собственных базовых станций с поддержкой этой технологии и готовности включить LTE «хоть завтра».
