Ученые открыли заболевание, вызванное действием мутации гена миоглобина, отвечающего за структуру мышечных белков. Специалисты из Австралии, Швеции и Испании провели исследование, сообщает журнал Nature Communications.
Эксперты рассказали, что этот недуг выявлен впервые. Люди среднего возраста оказались в зоне риска. Нарушения удалось зафиксировать с помощью биопсии мышц.
У нескольких членов из шести неродственных европейских семей, по данным авторов наблюдений, обнаружена данная мутация. У них у всех были одинаковые симптомы, а также наличие саркоплазматических тел (новых образований в клетках).
Миоглобин, как утверждают специалисты, это важнейший белок. Он отвечает за транспортировку и насыщение кислородом мышечной ткани, придает мышцам красный цвет. Белок эффективно защищает клеточную структуру от окислительного стресса.
Заболевание получило название «миоглобинопатия». Оно развивается у людей в возрасте от 30 до 50 лет. Из-за недуга прогрессирует слабость мышц ног, рук и шеи, а также подвергаются опасности сердце и дыхательная мускулатура. Сейчас медики сосредоточены на поиске препаратов от заболевания.
Ранее медики из США заявили, что замедление походки говорит об ухудшении здоровья.
